Nelle Jencie Gibson, 103, of  West Plains, Missouri died Thursday, May 8, 2008 in West Vue Nursing Center. Graveside services at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Miss Gibson was born Jan. 1, 1905, in Louisville, Ill., to Dr. E. P. Gibson and Jencie Burton Gibson.

She was a graduate of the University of Illinois and taught school for 39 years. While she was teaching, during the summers, she was the Unit Director for the Camp Fire Girls for many years in several of the western states.

Miss Gibson was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one nephew, James Holaday, Vernon Hills, Ill.; and two great-nephews, Jim and John.

Her parents, two brothers, one sister and lifelong friend, Mary Tenekot, precede her in death.
