Thelma M. Deischer, 94, of Olney died Saturday, May 16, 1998 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Charles McDonald officiating. Burial in Haven Hill cemetery in Olney.

Deischer was born October 6, 1903 in Richland County, the daughter of James H. and Mary L. (Marks) Deischer.

She retired as a school teacher in Clay and Richland counties in 1979 but substituted for many more years. She attended both Immanuel United Methodist Church and Elm Street Christian Church in Olney. She was a member of Delta Beta Gamma Society, Illinois Retired Teachers Association and active in her party politics.

She is survived by several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, James Preston and a sister, Norma.
