Marion M. Taylor - Class Of 1920

Dr. Marion M. Taylor, 67, of River Forest, Illinois and former well-known Decker Township resident, died Sunday night (November 1969) at the Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Taylor had practiced medicine in the Chicago area for a number of years and had been in ill health for several months.

He was born in Decker Township on January 5, 1902 son of the late W.O. and Lilly Meredith Taylor. He was a member of Noble Lodge No. 362, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, the Chicago Medical Association, the Illinois Medical Association and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Avis; a son, Marion M. Taylor, Jr. PhD Staff member of the University of Illinois, a brother, Dr. K.R. Taylor of River Forest, Illinois and two nephews, Dr. Kenneth W. Taylor of San Diego and Meredith L. Taylor of Chicago.

Dr. Taylor was a 1920 graduate of Olney High School. He later graduated from SIU at Carbondale and taught at Cherry street school in Olney in the 1920's. He was also a member of the Noble Band about fifty years ago and played for a time with Cummins Band in Olney.

He graduated from University of Illinois Medical School in 1928 and had practiced medicine in River Forrest for a number of years. He and his brother, Dr. Kenneth Taylor operated a small hospital and office in Noble during the middle 30's.

He was united in marriage June 30, 1937 to Avis Wildenraff.
