Robert Harlie Smith - Class Of 1920

Dr. Robert Harlie Smith, 57, passed away suddenly at his home in Mahomet, Illinois Monday morning, August 1, 1960. He had been suffering from a heart ailment for quite some time.

Dr. Smith, husband of the former Miss Florence Bones of Clay City, and the son of Theodore R. and Essie (Doggett) Smith of this city, was a native of Clay City and attended local and Olney schools.

He had been a practicing physician in Mahomet for 28 years. He served on the Village Board and the School Board there. He was a past president of the Champaign County Medical Society and of the Burnham City Hospital staff in Champaign.

Besides his wife and mother, Dr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Ann) Dawkins and Mrs. E.T. (Lois) Moon, both of Mahomet; two brothers, Owen Smith of Olney and Paul Smith of Bridgeport; two sisters, Mrs. Aleta Crackel of Olney and Mrs. Robert (Loretta) Hennagin of Highland Park, Mich.

Following funeral services held in Mahomet, the body was brought to the Easley-Padgett Funeral Home in Clay City with interment in the Clay City Cemetery.
