John Irving Schaeffer, 86, of Westlake Village, California, former longtime Monrovia area resident, passed away December 28, 1988 in Glendale. John was born in Richland County Illinois March 15, 1902 son of John R. and Matilda A. (Myers) Schaeffer.

He was a member of the Monrovia Methodist Church and the Vanguard Class.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Hazel S. (Leamon) Schaeffer; a daughter, Carolyn Wiche of Minnesota; sons, John of Sacramento and Richard of Agoura; two sisters, Marie Ritchie of Cincinnati and Lois Shriver of Michigan; also seven grandchildren.

Services held at Douglass & Zook Mortuary Chapel, Monrovia. Burial in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA.
