Kathleen Moore (Klaus) - Class Of 1920

Kathleen M. (Moore) Klaus, 85, Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Westwood, Ohio, died on May 22, 1987, at the Twin Towers Methodist Home where she had lived for the last 12 years.

Mrs. Klaus was a former resident of Olney, Illinois and a 1920 graduate of Olney Township High School. She was a retired school teacher. She began teaching in Cincinnati as a temporary substitute during World War II continued through a 24-year career in Cincinnati Public Schools. She retired in 1968 after ten years at Webster Elementary School. Mrs. Klaus’ son, Richard Klaus of Westwood said “mathematics was her specialty and she enjoyed the pleasure of seeing how well her sixth-grade students did on exams to get into Walnut Hills High School.”

Mrs. Klaus also taught Sunday School classes and recently the Friendship Class of Westwood United Methodist Church, where she was a 50-year member. A native of Olney, Illinois, she was a 65-year member of the Order of Eastern Star there. She was a member of the Westwood Women’s Club.

She is survived by one son, Richard M. Klaus of Westwood; one brother, Ralph Clark Moore of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Katherine (Clark) Moore and her husband, Frank C. Klaus who died in 1965.

A memorial service held at the Twin Towers Methodist Home, with burial at the Arlington Memorial Gardens in Cincinnati.
