Jasper K. Hawkins - Class Of 1920

Jasper K. "Jack" Hawkins, 66, of 130 South East Street, lifelong resident of Richland and well-known rural mail carrier, died Monday, March 24, 1969 at the Richland Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hawkins was born October 7, 1902 in decker township, son of Harry O. and Nettie Frost Hawkins. He was affiliated with the Immanuel United Methodist Church, was a member of Olney Elks Lodge No. 926 and the National Rural Letter Carrier's Association. At the time he became ill several weeks ago, he was carrying the mail for the Route 4 patrons, and had been with the Olney Post Office since October 1938.

Besides his wife, Thelma, he is survived by a son, Keith B. Hawkins of Terre Haute, Ind.; three grandchildren; three brothers, R.D. Hawkins of Noble, J.O. Hawkins of Casey and L.O. "Mike" Hawkins of Olney; and one sister, Mrs. Oneal Goudy Hillis of Olney.

Funeral services at the Schaub Funeral Home with the Pastor John E.Kauffman officiating. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.
