Marjorie M. Cralle (Poorman) - Class Of 1925

Marjorie M. Poorman, of Olney, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2011, at the age of 105, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Funeral services at Elm Street Christian Church with Minister Larry Weber officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Marjorie was born September 19, 1906, in Gards Point, the oldest of six girls. She was the daughter of Sam and Ethel (Gard) Cralle. She married Arthur Ray Poorman in March of 1928 in Olney. He preceded her in death April 3, 1983.

She was a lifetime member of Elm Street Christian Church in Olney. Marjorie graduated from high school in Olney and worked at the telephone company until she was married. She then moved to St. Louis, Mo., where she worked until retiring in the telephone order department for Famous-Barr. After retirement, she and Arthur moved to Noble where they opened and ran an antique shop for many years. She belonged to Heritage House Museum, Richland County Historical Society and Genealogy Society. She sent cards and letters to everyone she knew, loved to read and do genealogy, collect antiques and travel. She wrote her life story in 1988 until 1990. She was an optimist and believed everything happened for a reason. She was proud of her family and loved all her grandkids. She was an amazing lady and loved life. Mom lived at Burgin Manor since 2002. The family would like to thank the staff and nurses with special thanks to Una Tarpley, Linda and Mary at Burgins for her wonderful care, and all the many friends who visited her over the years.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Mary Jean Feldmann, of Utah; four grandsons, Michael Feldmann and his wife, Brenda, of Utah, Keith Feldmann and his wife, Robyn, of Utah, Steve Poorman and his wife, Mary Beth, of Warden, and Kenneth Poorman and his wife, Mary, of Florissant, Mo.; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer Andrews, Stacy Jewkes, Bryan Feldmann and Kimberly Feldmann, of Utah, Brandon Poorman and Alyssa Poorman, of Warden, and Elaina Kroll, of O’ Fallon, Mo.; eight great-great-grandchildren, Tate Jewkes, Gracie Jewkes, Jacob Jewkes, Landon Feldmann, Reagan Feldmann, Andrew Moger, Ireland Andrews and one on the way, all of Utah, and Lucas Kroll, of O’Fallon, Mo.; two sisters, Betty Sterchi and Norma Wheat, of Olney; daughter-in-law, Laura Poorman, of Florissant, Mo.; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Ethel Cralle; husband, Arthur Ray Poorman; son, Arthur Ray “Skip” Poorman Jr.; son-in-law, Bill Feldmann; sisters, Geneva Wenk, Eloise Harmon and Virginia Stevens; and nephews, Ronnie Wenk and Gary Stevens.
