William Albert Smith, 69, died Thursday January 10, 1980 at the family home on Esmeralda street.  Burial in Oak Hill cemetery, Parkersburg.

He was born Aug. 17, 1910 in Parkersburg, son of Ross C. Smith and Metta M. Ensor Smith. He married Leila Fritchley Jan. 2, 1932 in Olney.

Before retirement he worked as a child care worker for the State of Illinois at the Soldiers and Sailors School at Normal. Member of Elm Street Christian Church and Olney Elks Lodge and Parkersburge AF&AM.

Survived by his wife, daughter, Mrs. Don (Jo Ann) Watson of Olney, sisters Vivian Broeg of Parkersburg and Leona Dean of Olney. Mis mother Metta M. Smith of Parkersburg and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Ellis Smith.
