Herman John Muhs, 83, of Newton, died at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Sunday August 25, 1991.  Funeral services at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton with Father Joe Molloy officiating. Burial in Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin.

Mr. Muhs was born October 14, 1907 in Clay County, the son of Henry and Mary (Kessler) Muhs. He married Ora May Geier Nov. 26, 1940 in Newton. She preceded him in death July 19, 1982.

Mr. Muhs was a farmer. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton.

Mr. Muhs is survived by one son, Wayne J. Muhs, Newton; one daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Margaret Ann) Mahaffey, Noble; two brothers, Walmar Muhs and Gene Muhs, Noble and six grandchildren.

Mr. Muhs was preceded in death by his wife, one brother and one sister.
