Lois I. Compton (Curtis)

Lois Irene (Compton) Curtis, 84, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Olney, Illinois died May 7, 1994 in a San Antonio nursing home. Curtis was born May 21, 1909 daughter of Virgil and Ora E. (Wardell) Compton and was raised in the Olney area. She married Gilbert Curtis in 1928 and he died in 1953.

She was a retired deputy circuit clerk for Richland County, was director of prayer circles for the international home office of Aviators of Air Mail from God and was a missionary in Mexico, first beginning that work in Oaxaca, a Mexican state. She left Richland County in 1960 to work as a missionary.

Surviving are several members of her adopted family, including two children, Rev. Gerald and Deane Smith Dugan; three grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren and a nephew.

Services were at Mission Park Chapel in San Antonio with burial in Mission Park North Cemetery.
