Harriet Dodds (Stephens)

Harriet Marie Stephens, 88, of Riverside Calif., formerly of Shelbyville died at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 1998, at her residence in Riverside.  Services at Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery in Shelbyville.

Stephens was born Aug. 1, 1909, in Calhoun, the daughter of Charles V. and Leota E. (Lester) Dodds. She married Dale M. Stephens Dec. 24, 1929. He preceded her in death in 1952.

She was formerly employed by Shelby County Farm Bureau and the Shelby Electric CO-OP. Later she was an Avon representative and operated a telephone answering service from her home. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, Eastern Star and White Star of Jerusalem.

She is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Wakeland, of Riverside, Calif.; four granddaughters, Kathie Storm and her husband, Gary, of Lakewood, Bobbie Stellar and her husband, Art, of Kansas City, Mo., Wendy Lester and her husband, Frank, of Liberty, Mo., and Jana Miller, of Riverside, Calif.; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Jerry L. Stephens, a sister, Margaret Huddleston, and a granddaughter, Laurie Rice McGregor.
