MATTOON - Bernadine Frances Lewellen, 100, of Mattoon, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of her life at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Mattoon with Father Dennis Kollross celebrating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Mattoon

Bernadine was born July 20, 1908, in Olney, Richland County, Illinois, a daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Kocher) Hahn. She married Stephen S. Lewellen on September 14, 1933. He passed away September 14, 1986.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers. Survivors include her three sons, Donald Lewellen and wife Janet of Peoria, Robert Lewellen and wife Ann of Decatur, and Gary Lewellen and wife Carolyn of Fresno, California; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Lewellen was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church. She was also a member of the National Association of Federal Employees. Memorial gifts in her­ honor may be made to American Heart Association or donor's choice.
