Doit Welker

Harry Doit Welker, 89, of Olney formerly of Hammond, Ind., died Sunday December 6, 1998 at Burgin Manor Nursing Home.  Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Quentin Beard officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Welker was born November 18, 1909 in Olney, the son of Elza and Estella (Voorhis) Welker. He was widowed.

He was a retired fireman from Inland Steel of East Chicago, for 35 years and was a member of First Assembly of God in Hessville, Ind.

He is survived by two sons,Jim Welker and his wife, Barbara of Tuscaloosa, Ala. and Bill Welker and his wife, Betty of Olney; one sister, Wanda Marvin and her husband, George of Effingham; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Bernice Royse Welker and two brothers, Cecil and Clem.
