Orris Gardner

Orris Gardner, 62, of 311 North Ohio Street, Olney passed away Saturday afternoon, May 9, 1970 at the Veterans Hospital in Danville, where he had been taken five days prior to his death.

Funeral services at Summers-Rainey Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Schwarzlose in charge. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery with military rites at the graveside by Veterans organizations of Olney.

The deceased was born November 22, 1907 at Claremont, son of the late H.M. Gardner and Christena Heckler Gardner. He moved to Olney as a child and graduated from Olney Township High School in 1926. He was employed for several years by the Pure Oil Co. He was last employed by the American Legion Post in Olney as custodian.

He was married to Zelma Briggs, R.N. in March 1934. She survives in addition to a brother, Hobart Gardner of Olney.

His parents, a brother and sister preceded him in death.

He was a veteran of World War II and served in the U.S. Army from July 2, 1943 until his discharge on October 8, 1945. He was a member of Richland Post #30, American Legion.
