Ira E. Powell, 79, 219 S. Jackson, Olney died Thursday March 24, 1988 in Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.

Services in Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Smith presiding. Masonic services by Olney Masonic Lodge A.F.&A.M. 140. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Powell was born in Lawrence County March 13, 1909, the son of Levi (LJ) and Katie Belle (Boyd) Powell. He married Lula Mae Scherer July 1, 1933 in Olney and she survives.

He was a retired office manager for Coca Cola, having worked there for 27 years. He was a member of the Olney Masonic Lodge Henry Godeke Chapter 38, W.R. Lashbrook 55 and the Commandry Knights Templer 14. He was a member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney.

Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, John E. Powell, Newburg, Ore.; a daughter, Ruth E. Clay, Virginia Beach, Va.; a brother, Earnest A. Powell, Melbourne, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Mabel) McKinney, Olney and Mrs. Melvin (Garnett) Streitz, St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
