Vernon Hawkins

Vernon L. Hawkins, age 46, of 620 East Chestnut Street, well known Olney businessman, passed away suddenly about 11 o'clock Tuesday morning October 3, 1950 at the Olney Sanitarium.

Mr. Hawkins suffered a heart attack several months ago and was confined to the Sanitarium for about a month. His condition improved and he was released from the hospital and taken to his home on September 20. Tuesday morning he suffered a severe attack at his home and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away.

Mr. Hawkins was a grocer here for many years and for some time has operated the Little Farm Market at 423 Whittle Avenue, which he had done very successfully.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel; his mother, Mrs. Linnie Hawkins of 403 North Mill Street, Olney and by one brother, Howard Hawkins.

Funeral services at Summers-Dush Funeral Home with Rev. Walter A. Smith  in charge. Interment at Haven Hill Cemetery.
