Roy Bourne

Roy S. Bourne, 87, of Wynoose, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1995 at his home  Services at Zirkle Funeral Home in Olney, with Brothers James Kerr and Tim Bursott officiating. Burial in Greenhill Cemetery south of Noble.

Bourne was born March 2, 1908 in Richland County, the son of Orie P. and Nora (Goodhart) Bourne. He married Lillie Marie Fuson April 26, 1930. She preceded him in death in 1978. He then married Myrtle Hunt Jenner Dec. 20, 1980. She preceded him in death in 1988.

He was a member of the Wynoose United for Christ Church, Noble Lion's Club, Olney Lodge #926 B.P.O. Elks, Olney Masonic Lodge, Illinois Retired Teacher's Association, a charter member of the Richland County Soil and Water Conservation Board, a charter member of Rich-Law Service Company, County Committee member of the Wayne County ASC, past member of American Red Poll Cattle Association and past officer of Illinois Red Poll Cattle Association.

He taught school for 18 years in small county school in Richland and Wayne County and taught school and was a basketball coach for 25 years at the Noble Grade School. After retirement, he was a substitute teacher for 12 years in the Richland, Clay and Wayne County schools. He also owned and operated a family farm in Wynoose.

He is survived by a son, Sam Bourne, of Noble; two step-sons, Quinten Leon Jenner, of Olney, and Dale Jenner, of Port Angles, Wash,; one step-daughter, Kay Bonnour, of Morse; one son-in-law, John Slichenmyer, of Olney; two brothers, John Bourne, of Streator, and Ira Bourne, of Bloomington; one sister, Winona Montgomery, of Lamar, Colo.;
three grandchildren, 11 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren nine step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, a daughter, Mary Jane Slichenmyer, one brother, Carter Bourne, and one sister, Dorothy Poff.
