John S. Sutherlin - Class Of 1926

John S. Sutherlin

John S. "Sig" Sutherlin, age 65, for many years a resident of Olney and for the past several years a resident of Arcola, passed away in July 1973 at the Jaman Hospital in Tuscola.

Born in Richland County January 4, 1908, Mr. Sutherlin was the son of Everett O. Sutherlin Sr. and Lula Richardson Sutherlin. Mr. Sutherlin was a brick mason by trade and was also a co-owner of the Arcola Bait Shop in Arcola

He leaves two children; Mrs. Rod (Harriet Dean) Carrell of Shelbyville and S. O. Sutherlin of St. Charles, Mo. There are four grandchildren. Also surviving is his mother, Mrs. Lula Sutherlin of Olney and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Ellen Jennings, Everett O. Sutherlin Jr. and Jim Sutherlin all of Olney, Mrs. Evelyn Tammany of Bloomington and Mrs. Harriett McDowell of Florrisant, Mo. His father has preceded him in death.

Funeral services at Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with the Rev. David Rumpf officiating. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Sutherlin was a member of Greenup Lodge #125 A.F.&A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Danville and the I.O.O.F. and Moose Lodges.
