James Redman

James Beaird Redman, 91, of Olney, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at his residence.  Funeral services at First United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Scott Carlson officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Mr. Redman was born July 22, 1915, in Olney, the son of W. Guy and Blanche Cleo (Ryan) Redman. He married the love of his life, Mary M. Weber, on July 1, 1942. She survives.

He was a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and a World War II veteran, serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the 7th Armored Division. After the war, he was employed as secretary treasurer of Calvert Drilling Company. Later, he owned and operated The LaRuth Shop, a women's apparel store. Finally, he was Assistant Personnel Manager at AMF for more than 10 years. He was active in many organizations in Olney, including Rotary Club, serving as president at one time; ERES School Board; Olney Central College Foundation; VFW; American Legion; Elks; and Eagles. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney.

Mr. Redman is survived by his wife, Mary Redman, of Olney; children, Michael Redman and his wife, Penny, of Seattle, Wash., Mary Lepp and her husband, Dr. Don, of Yankton, S.D., Kate Sterrett and her husband, William, of Inverness, and Judith B. Redman, of Olney; grandchildren, Kaaren Redman, Dr. Mary Redman, Dr. Nathan Lepp, Guy Sterrett and Molly Batzer; and great-grandchildren, Allie Sterrett, Katie Batzer and Ian Batzer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lloyd Carver Redman Zeller.
