Maurice Samuel Clifford, 82, of St. Louis, formerly of Olney died Saturday March 7, 1998 at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.  Graveside services at Crest Haven Cemetery in Claremont. Full military rites conducted by Olney veterans.

Clifford was born May 21, 1915 in Richland County, the son of Carah W. and Beatrice (Farris) Clifford. He married Mildred McCaw March 14, 1942.  He was a United States WWII Army veteran and a retired accountant clerk. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, was a 50-year member of the American Legion and was a member of the VFW.

He is survived by his wife, of Webster Groves, Mo.; one son, Maurice Samuel Clifford, Jr. and his wife, Carol of Tupelo, Miss.; one daughter, Anne McCaw Clifford of St. Louis; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
