Mildred Hanna (Piper) - Class Of 1933

F. Mildred (Hanna) Piper, 87, of Moline, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. Services at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Burial in Moline Memorial Park.

The former Frankie Mildred Hanna was born Dec. 19, 1915, in Newton, Ill., the daughter of Markus Willard and Lula Maude Jester Hanna. She married Theodore R. "Russ" Piper Dec. 15, 1934, in Rock Island. He died Oct. 8, 1998. She was second-floor ward secretary at the former Moline Lutheran Hospital for 13 years.

She was a member of Rebekah Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and First Baptist Church, Rock Island. She loved to crochet and play cards.

Mildred is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jim Burns, Moline; son and daughter-in-law, Jerome "Jerry" and Judy Piper, Silvis; granddaughters, Sharon Phares, Jill Lorenzi, Joette Castro, and Jacalyn Pillsbury; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
