Mary Amelia Thompson, 82, of rural Newton, Illinois, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.  Funeral services at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL. with Bro. Mike Knepper officiating. Burial in the Westlawn Cemetery in Newton, IL.

Mary was born on December 11, 1928 in Richland County, IL. the daughter of Louis Joseph and Anna Maggie (Gebhard) Haenggi. She married Everett D. "Bud" Thompson on December 11, 1948 and he preceded her in death on February 23 1979. Mary retired from E.R.Moore Co. in Newton after almost 40 years of service. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Mary is survived by three children, Pat snider of Newton, Diana (Steve) Shryock of Hidalgo and Alan (Shawn) Thompson of Newton; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild and two sisters, Barbara Gullick of Marissa and Kathryn Robinett of Leesburg, VA.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister Velma Williams and a brother Harold Haenggi, Sr.
