VETERNARIAN DIES IN CRASH

Mason City, IL – Dr. Walter Leo Fehrenbacher, Williamsfield veterinarian was killed instantly at 10:40 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 1957, when his car and another collided at an intersection of country roads 4 miles north of Brimfield.

Dr. Fehrenbacher, 28 was the husband of the former Mary Lou Lynn of Mason City.

Dr. Fehrenbacher was driving on a gravel road and officials said evidently did not notice a stop sign posted for a county blacktop. His car was hit on the left side at the driver’s position by a car driven by James Ringgen of Galesburg.  Each man was alone in his car.

Dr. Fehrenbacher had practiced in Williamsfield for two years.  Williamsfield is between Peoria and Galesburg.

His funeral will be held at St. Columbus’s Church, Mason City. Burial in Mason City, Illinois.

He was born in Bogota (Jasper County) September 1, 1929, son of Charles W. and Elizabeth Drew Fehrenbacher.  He married Mary Lou Lynn December 22, 1951 in Champaign.

Surviving are four children, Melissa Ann, Jeffries, Debra and David, all at home; three brothers, Ralph, Pana; Joseph, Champaign; George, Wyoming, Ill;  three sisters, Mrs. Forrest Kermicle, Dundas; Mrs. William J. Ryan, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Peter Kovacic, Cleveland, Ohio; his parents, also of Dundas.

One brother preceded him in death.

He was a member of the Illinois State Veternarians Association, Lions Club of Williamsfield, U of I Alumni Association ad Alpha Zeta.
