Robert Carson Iaun

Robert Carson Iaun, 87, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away at 5:50 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Methodist.

Robert was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Olney, Ill., the son of Robert and Louella Carson Iaun. He married Carolyn M. Parnell. He later married Betty Mae Gottschalk.

He is survived by the love of his life for 39 years; two sons, Thomas E. Iaun of Peoria and Michael R. Iaun of Galesburg; two daughters, Diana Koener of Idaho and Lynn Koener of Carbondale; one brother, Edward E. Iaun of San Miguel, N.M.; three grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one son, John Iaun.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the U.S.S. Mount McKinley from 1950 to 1954.  Robert worked as a riverboat engineer for Pure Oil Co. He later worked for Caterpillar Inc. as an engineer, until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Chillicothe.

A memorial service held at the Chapel of Saint Luke in the Care Center of Lutheran Hillside Village. Burial in Parkview Cemetery.
