Leatha Marie Ginder (Urfer)

Leatha Marie Urfer, 81, of West Liberty, died Tuesday, November 25, 2008, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton with Fr. Al Kemme officiating. Burial in Westlawn Cemetery in Newton.

Leatha was born on October 24, 1927, in Richland County, the daughter of Frank and Lula (Copper) Ginder. She married Walter Roy Urfer on August 19, 1946, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stringtown.

She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Newton.

Leatha is survived by her husband of 62 years, Walter Urfer, of West Liberty; seven children, Vernon Urfer and his wife, Ruby, of West Liberty, Dion Urfer and his wife, Deborah, of Newton, Steven Urfer, of West Liberty, Gilbert Urfer and his wife, Pam, of Newton, Douglas Urfer and his wife, Mary, of West Liberty, Elaine Menke and her husband, Duane, of Newton, and Rita Urfer of Phoenix, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Aaron, Adrianne and Alison Urfer, Rachel Urfer, Brianne and Kristen Urfer, Amanda Tarr and her husband, Brock, and Britni Menke; and one great-grandson, Turner Tarr.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Eugene and Dean Ginder.
