Norman Ray Williams, 47, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois was dead on arrival Saturday, September 2, 1967, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home.

The funeral was at the Pulley Funeral Home with the Rev. Bayne Wilson officiating.

Mr. Williams was a salesman for the Belleville Casket Company.

He was born June 18, 1920 at Quincy, Illinois, the son of George L. and Ruth (Henson) Williams. He married Alta Grubb October 20, 1942 at Afton, Missouri. She survives.

Mr. Williams was active in Boy Scout work with the First Community Church troop and was sponsor of a high school youth group. He had taught Sunday School classes at both the First Baptist and First Community churches.

He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was a graduate of Olney Township High School, Olney, Illinois. He belonged to the First Community Church, the Eastern Star and Masonic Lodges.

Survivors include his widow, Alta Williams, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Williams of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Mrs. John L. (Patricia) Johnston of Champaign and Linda Williams of Mt. Vernon; and two grandchildren.
