Orpha S. Vail, 79, of Olney died Monday January 18, 1999 at Richland Memorial Hospital.  Services at Zirkle Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Mark Royster officiating. Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park, east of Olney.

Mrs. Vail was born January 15, 1920 in Coon Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of William and Lora (Carter) Sloan. She married Pat L. Vail December 24, 1944 in Foosland.

She was a nurse anesthetist since 1953 working at the Olney Sanitarium and the Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney. She retired in 1982. She was a member of Grace Evangelical Church and Richland Post #30, American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Pat L. Vail of Olney; two sons, Michael Vail and his wife, Candace of Cincinnati, Ohio and Dennis Vail and his wife, Elaine of Coalinga, Calif.; two brothers, Bill Sloan of Olney and Rex Sloan of Auburndale, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents a brother, Harry Sloan and a sister, Grace Leaf.
