Jack Tippit

John (Jack) T. Tippit, 80, of Key Largo, Florida, formerly of Olney died October 17, 2000 at East Ridge Retirement Village in South Dade County, Florida.

Mr. Tippit was born February 26, 1920 in Olney, the son of Tom and Ella (Miller) Tippit.

He graduated from Olney Township High School in 1937 and graduated as a Civil Engineer from University of Illinois in 1941.  He spent 37 years with Texaco, Inc. in various capacities and locations, including Iran and Sweden.  He moved to Florida in 1977 where he was General Manager of Refining for Latin America and West Africa until his retirement in 1982.

Mr. Tippit is survived by his wife, Willa Tippit of Key Largo, Fla.; three children, Sharon Glasier of Alabama, Scott Tippit of New Hampshire and Shonnie Wheeler of Oregon; three granddaughters and one grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen.
