Dorothy A. Smith (Dorney)

Dorothy Arlene (Smith) Dorney, 82, who belonged to the Officers Wives and Foreign Affairs clubs at Andrews Air Force Base, died of congestive heart failure June 1, 2002 at Crofton Nursing and Convalescent Center.

She was born in Omaha, Nebraska on January 29, 1920, daughter of Elton E. and Mary Stella (Frisk) Smith and raised in Olney, Ill. She accompanied her husband to Air Force posts in Puerto Rico and Brussels before settling in Camp Springs in 1967. Her husband, retired Col. Harvey C. Dorney, U.S. Air Force, died the next year.

Mrs. Dorney, Volunteer and Club Member, volunteered at military hospitals. Her interests included antiques.

Survivors include three children, Harvey Charles Dorney Jr. of Fairborn, Ohio, Suzanne Marie Gregoire of Burdett, N.Y., and Cecile Teresa Chapman of Upper Marlboro; and five grandchildren.

Mrs. Dorney is preceded in death by her parents, Elton E. and Mary S. Smith and step-father, Loren Earl Kent.

Burial in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA
