Mary Helen Black, 79, of Olney, formerly of Grayville died at 7:42 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 1997 at her residence.  Graveside services at Clay City Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Bissey officiating. Burial in Clay City Cemetery. 

Black was born August 9, 1917 in Wabash County, the daughter of Harry and Jessie (Doty) Matherly.  She married John L. Black in 1937.  He preceded her in death in 1975.

She was a retired bookkeeper for Weber Medical Clinic and a former member of First United Methodist Church in Grayville.

She is survived by several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son and an infant daughter.
