James Robert Bob Summers

James Robert "Bob" Summers, 85, of Olney, died Wednesday, April 7, 2004, at his residence. Funeral services at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Father Jerry Wirth officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Mausoleum in Olney.

Mr. Summers was born on October 14, 1918, in Claremont, the son of A. F. and Mary Beatrice (Bullock) Summers. He married Helen Marie Hendershott on November 1, 1939. She survives.

He owned and operated B.S. Equipment for 45 years, was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus and Elks, was a former Rotarian, and was a former member of Richland County Fair Board, Richland County Housing Authority and Petroleum Club. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney. He served as mayor of Olney from 1969-1972 and for years served as a Boy Scout Master of Troop 211.

Mr. Summers is survived by his wife, Helen Marie (Hendershott) Summers, of Olney; two sons, James Robert Summers II and his wife, Marsha, of Germantown, Tenn., and Stephen Howard Summers and his wife, Donna, of Whitewater, Wis.; three brothers, Dr. John Summers, of St. Louis, Eugene Summers, of Auburndale, Fla., and Dale Summers of Sebring, Fla.; four grandchildren, Todd Robert, Stephen, Howard II, Andrew James and Christina Marie; and three great-grandchildren, Hannah Christina, Nicholas Andrew and Elijah James.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and five brothers.
