STEELEVILLE - Donald W. McCaw, 96, passed away at 5:05 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, in Sparta Community Hospital.

Donald was born July 23, 1916, in Claremont, Illinois the son of William Henry and Mary Mabel Shafer McCaw.  He married Rosalie H. Fiene on March 8, 1941, in Steeleville.

He was a retired superintendent from Streamline Mine in Percy.  Donald was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill.

Donald is survived by his wife, Rosalie H. McCaw of Steeleville; one daughter, Mary McCelland and husband, William Obert, of Poway, Calif.; two grandchildren, Charles McCelland of Menifee, Calif., and Katie McCelland of San Diego; one stepgrandson, Brad Davis; and one great-stepgrandson, Liam Davis, both of Littleton, Colo.; two sisters, Mildred Clifford of St. Louis and Marilyn Smith of Claremont; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Donald W. "Bill" McCaw Jr.

Services in St. Peter Lutheran Church in Campbell Hill, with the Rev. Alan Kornacki officiating. Burial in Paradise Cemetery in Steeleville.
