Victor Davis - Class Of 1934

Victor R. Davis, 82, of Decatur, died Thursday (Dec. 17, 1998) in Manor Care Healthcare Services.

Services in Brown Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Mount Erie, with the Rev. Jack Pitzer officiating. Burial in Brown Cemetery, Mount Erie.

Mr. Davis was born Feb. 29, 1916, in Mount Erie, the son of William Henry and Sarah Ann Armstrong Davis. He was a retired assistant postmaster in Effingham and a member of Woodland Chapel Presbyterian Church in Decatur, VFW 8002 in Kathleen, Fla., American Legion in Newton and Newton Masonic Lodge 216. He was a World War II veteran (Cpl ~ U.S. Marine Corps) He married Dortha N. Enlow on Sept. 5, 1939, in Indianapolis, Ind.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Garry Davis and wife Linda of Decatur; Dennis Davis and wife Julia of Hudson, Wis.; sister, Maude Jones of Macon, Ga.; four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, six brothers and three sisters.
