Dorothy Patterson (Totten) - Class Of 1934

Dorothy A. Totten, Miss Dorothy, as she was known by in her later years, took flight with our Lord Jesus on Monday, January 27, 2014. She was 99 years young.

Dorothy was born on September 9, 1914 in Richland County, Illinois, the daughter of Edward and Edith (Stover) Patterson. She married William "Bill" Totten on July 31, 1937 in Vincennes, Indiana. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1979.

Mother Totten was a person who loved people. She was a wife, mother, teacher, and a wonderful cook. She was best known for her homemade pies. She worked as a CNA in a nursing home in Olney for many years taking care of people. She taught her children and grandchildren her Christian values and she lived those values for 99 years. She was a member of the Main Street Christian Church in Olney but also attended services at the Assembly of God church in Olney.

She is survived by her son, James E. Totten and wife, Christine of Carmi, IL; Son, Tom Totten and wife Cindy of Olney; Grandsons, Erik, Ty, J.R., and Tim Totten; Grandaughters, Kymberly DiVita, Angie Salas, and Chrissy Keys; Ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Donald Ray Totten, granddaughter, Lois Ann Totten, five brothers and a sister.

Kenna Hayes (King) (1961)

Dorthey was a wonderful person and loved by our whole family!  She came to visit us in Ky with my Mother, Imogene Hayes many times.
