Gale Piper, 69, Rt. 2, Cisne, died Wednesday morning October 15, 1986 in Woodriver Township Hospital in Woodriver. Services at Summers Funeral Home with Rev. James Williams presiding. Burial in Crest Haven Cemetery.

Mr. Piper was born December 23, 1916 in Carbondale, the son of Harry Bruce and Nettie (Lathrop) Piper, Jr. He married Dorothy Kirby in 1938.

He was a field operator for Unocal Oil Corp. for 42 years. He was a member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church in Enterprise.

Surviving are his wife, Dorothy; a son Tom Piper, East Alton; two daughters, Jacquelyn Busby, East Alton; Susan Douglas, Salem; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
