Rudolph Heckler - Class Of 1936

Rudolph Heckler

Cpl. Rudolph Earl Heckler, son of John and Mary Heckler was born in Claremont Township, September 23, 1918, departed this life at Fort Lewis, Washington, July 22, 1943 at the age of 24y 9m 29d.

He was converted in Nov. 1941 and united with the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. On March 1, 1942, he entered the United States Army. Most of his time was spent at Fort Lewis Wash.  His father preceded him in death Feb. 18, 1943.

He leaves to mourn his passing, his mother Mrs. Mary Heckler, two brothers, William of Claremont, and Estes of Olney, a half-brother Fred Heckler of Bone Gap, a half-sister Mrs. Florence Herrin of Cisne, a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services for Corporal Rudolph Heckler, first deceased member of the U.S. Army services to be brought back to Richland county for burial in Mt. Pleasant Church and cemetery, in Claremont township Saturday afternoon with Rev. Browning in charge.

Military honors for the dead will be given at the graveside by soldiers from George Field.

The body will arrive at Porter-Schaub Funeral Home in Olney Friday via the B. & O. from Fort Lewis, Wash, where he passed away last Thursday.
