Dorothy Jean Wilson (Hostettler) - Class Of 1936

Dorothy Jean Hostettler, 86, of 501 E. Grove St., Bloomington, died Tuesday May 10, 2005 at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal. Her funeral at Wesley United Methodist Church, Wesley Hall, Bloomington, the Rev. Vaughn Hoffman officiating. Entombment in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, Bloomington.

She was born Aug. 23, 1918, at Sumner, to Edwin O. and Lulu White Wilson. She married Roy L. Hostettler on Aug. 8, 1943, at Olney. He survives.

Also surviving are 17 nieces and nephews. Her parents and one sister, Mildred Reeder, preceded her in death. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington, where she was a 50-year member.

Mrs. Hostettler graduated from Olney Township High School in 1936. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington in 1940. She then received her master's of science of education from Illinois State University, Normal, in 1958. She taught at Atlanta High School, Chenoa and Forrest School District, then taught speech and English and was the director of plays while at Bloomington High School. She later served on the staff at Illinois State University as a supervisor of student teaching. She was a member of the Illinois and McLean Teachers Associations; Order of the Eastern Star, Olney; and a 60-year member of the Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.
