Helen Elizabeth Holtz, 70, 709 N. Morgan, Olney died Tuesday December 27, 1988 in Richland Memorial Hospital.  Services at Elm Street Christian Church with Rev. Dewey Thackston presiding. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Holtz was born June 16, 1918 in Olney, the daughter of Ralph and Evelene (Elliott) VanMatre. She married Myrl Holtz in 1936 and he preceded her in death in 1954.

She was a dental assistant for Dr. Kermitt Miller.

She was a member of the Elm Street Christian Church, the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Elks, Clio Club, Beta Sigma Phi, Homemakers Club and was a Girl Scout leader.

Survivors include a daughter, Myrline Bower, Olney; two brothers, Frank VanMatre, Olney and Joe VanMatre, Springfield; two sisters, Mrs. John (Nan) Shafer, Olney and Louise Turpin, Champaign; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
