Opal G. Ameter, 81, of Bridgeport died Sept. 8, 1995 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.  A graveside service held at the Bridgeport City Cemetery, with Rev. David Schwingle officiating.

Ameter was born Feb. 11, 1914, the daughter of Goerge and Lena (Taylor) Hockman. She married Lawrence Ameter. He preceded her in death Oct. 14, 1991.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Presbyterian Church of Bridgeport.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter, Sue Ameter, and a son, Larry Ameter.

She is survived by two sons, Malcolm, of Dothan, Ala., and Steve, of Olney; three brothers, John Hockman, of Olney, Dale Hockman, of Calhoun, and Bill Hockman, of Cape Girardeau, MO.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
