William Stivers - Class Of 1932

William W. Stivers, age 59, passed away very suddenly Saturday noon, October 19, 1974.  He was stricken at the home of his parents at 111 N. Lincoln Street and rushed to Richland Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Funeral services held in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Marshall Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Coons officiating.  Interment with military honors rendered by the Olney veterans organizations in Haven Hill Cemetery.

William was born December 10, 1914 in Olney, the son of Albert and Lola Conour Stivers.  He graduated in the class of 1932 at Olney Township High School.  He was a veteran of World War II having served in the United States Marine Corps.  He was a member of Richland Post No. 30 of the American Legion and Memorial Post No. 4226, the Veterans of Foreign Wars.  Mr. Stivers was employed as a truck driver for the Security Motor Service in Chicago.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Olney.

He leaves two children:  Mrs. Donna Lynn Sarver of Houston, Texas and William Stivers of Dallas, Texas.  There are seven grandchildren.  He also leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stivers of Olney; two brothers, Max Stivers of Olney and Jack Stivers of Abilene, Texas. 

A sister has preceded him in death.
