John William Franklin, 83, of Peoria, formerly of Dundas died Monday December 23, 1996 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Services at Remmert Funeral Home in East Peoria with Rev. Galen Courtright officiating. Burial in Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

Franklin was born September 7, 1913 in Dundas, the son of Carl C. and Lillian B. (Haskell) Franklin. He married Vivian Genelle Gorrell June 9, 1935 in Peoria. She preceded him in death July 20, 1990.

He was a member of the First Church of God in East Peoria. He was a tool investigator for Caterpillar Inc. for 43 years, retiring in 1978.

He is survived by his three sons, Ronald L. Franklin of Washington and Gerald D. and Kenneth G. Franklin both of East Peoria; two brothers, Cecil and Bernard Franklin both of Olney; three sisters, Ruth Burgener and Pauline Bateman both of Olney and Cleo Bunton of Creve Coeur; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother and two sisters.
