John Hendershott

John W. "Bill" Hendershott, 57, owner and operator of the Fritschle Mill at West Liberty, was pronounced dead on arrival yesterday morning, September 10, 1970 at the Richland Memorial Hospital.

A native of Dundas, Mr. Hendershott was born the son of William Emberry Hendershott and May Hill Hendershott. He was married to Irene Fritschle on March 9, 1935.

An extremely community-minded person, Mr. Hendershott was active in all phases of his community life. He was a member of the West Liberty United Methodist Church and served the Church in many capacities. He was Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was a trustee of the newly formed West Liberty Dundas water project. He became associated with his father-in-law, Fred Fritschle, in the operation of the Fritschle Mill at West Liberty in 1935 and assumed control of the operation in 1948. Mr. Hendershott was a member of Olney Lodge No. 40 A.F. & A.M. He was a graduate of the Olney High School class of 1932 and was a basketball star with the teams of Charles Van Cleve.

Funeral services in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers-Rainey Funeral Home with Rev. William Cardinal officiating. Interment in the Dundas Cemetery.

He leaves his wife, Irene; a daughter, Mrs. Earl (Judy) Urfer of West Liberty; two granddaughters, Cathy and Becky. Other survivors are two brothers: Fred Hendershott of Olney and Glenn Hendershott of Fresno, Calif.
