Memorial services held in Salem, Illinois in November 1997 for Ethel (Berg) Thurman, 84, formerly of Salem. Thurman died of heart failure on Saturday, September 6, 1997 in Ojai, California.

She was born, Ethel Elizabeth Berg in Mt. Erie, Illinois on October 24, 1912 daughter of David D. and Mabel (Vandeveer) Berg. She married Howard G. Thurman of Salem in 1933 and lived in Salem until they moved to California in 1959.

She was a real estate broker in Walnut City, California for 20 years.

Survivors include; twin sons, Howard of Bakersfield, Calif. and Harold of Collierville,  Tenn.; a daughter, Sue of Ojai, Calif; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a nephew, Barry Thurman; a sister, Isabelle Turner of Claremore, Ok and a brother, Eldon Berg of Denver, Colorado.

Burial in Bethlehem Cemetery, Salem, Illinois.
