Jack Merle Patton, 77, LaBelle, Florida, formerly of Olney, died Sunday, March 19, 1989 in Florida.  Funeral services with burial in Fort Denaud Cemetery, Florida.

Mr. Patton was born November 2, 1912 in Chauncey, Illinois and attended school at Olney Township High School where he excelled in football.  He moved to LaBelle in 1942 and worked in the oil field.  He founded and operated Patton Gas Co.  After retiring from the oil industry, he operated LaBelle Plant World.

Mr. Patton is survived by his wife, Tillie Curry Patton; one son, Richard Patton of Louisiana; two daughters, Vicki Wegshield and Rhonda Langford both of LaBelle; a brother, Donald Patton of Naples, Fla.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
