Robert Von Almen

Bob Von Almen Dies Suddenly

J. Robert Von Almen Jr., 43, one of Olney's finest citizens and a leading insurance agent, was found dead at 8 o'clock Monday morning July 8, 1957 at the barn near the H.E. Coen residence, where he had been feeding cows.

He had been seen a short time earlier at the barn and had apparently dropped dead presumably of a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Julia, and the following children, Mrs. Curtis Miller of Belvidere, and David Von Almen, U.S. Navy in Japan, and twin sons, Bob and Tom at home. Also surviving are a step-sister, Mrs. Annelle Beaird of Sarasota, Fla., two step-brothers, Reuben Von Almen of Stanley, N.D. and William F. Von Almen of Olney; and his step-mother, Mrs. Ann Von Almen.

Mr. Von Almen had been active in many civic and church enterprises and had been a progressive and popular citizen.

Mrs. Von Almen, former secretary of Olney Chamber of Commerce and sons had gone to a Baptist Church Camp near Benton yesterday, at which time Mr. Von Almen had been feeling well.

Remember Bob coming in to my Dad's appliance store. A real gentleman and a very handsome man.
