Herman A. Lehwald

The Rev. Herman A. Lehwald, Jr. 81, formerly of Olney died Wednesday, November 28, 1990 after a heart attack at his home in Ballwin, Missouri.  Services at Concord Trinity United Methodist Church with interment at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield.

Rev. Lehwald was born in Olney October 26, 1909, the son of Rev. and Mrs. H.A. Lehward.

He was a Methodist minister for 37 years in central and eastern Missouri. From 1946 until his retirement in 1984, he served at Methodist churches in Eureka, Troy, Normandy, Moberly, Overland, Festus and Concord Village.

From 1963-1969 he served as district superintendent for the Jefferson City and Rolla districts of the United Methodist Church. In 1973, he served as an exchange minister at the Haverhill United Methodist Church in Haverhill, England. He also served on the board of directors of several colleges, including Central Methodist College in Fayette, MO.

As a high school athlete in 1927 in Olney, he set a state track-meet record for high point total that stood for 35 years.

Surviving are his wife, Lola Mae Lehwald; two sons, Edward A. Lehwald of Baltimore and Harry D. Lehwald of Lake Charles, La.; three brothers, Dr. Carl Lehwald of Salem, Ohio, Howard Lehwald of Lake Wales, Fla. and Richard Lehwald of Houston; four sisters, Mary Williams of Olney, Louise Hersman of Wooster, Ohio, Helen Davis of Youngstown, Ohio, Dorothea Thompson of Jewett, Ohio and two grandchildren.
