Rachel F. Scherer, 84, of Olney died Sunday April 14, 1996 at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.  Funeral services at Benson-Grove Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Wise officiating. Burial in Fritschle-Scherer Cemetery.

Scherer was born December 22, 1911 in Richland County, the daughter of Raymond E. and Zola R. (Rich) Stewart. She married Earl F. Scherer December 24, 1941 in St. Louis.

She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper for 24 years at Scherer's Garage. She was a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney.

Surviving are her husband; one son, Larry D. Scherer and his wife, Ella May of Azle, Texas; one sister, Helen May of Glendora, Calif.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
