Viola Elder, 73, Olney, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1988, in Burgin Manor East.  Service in Zirkle Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Logan presiding. Burial in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Elder was born March 5, 1914, in Richland County, the daughter of William T. and Pearl (Fisher) Smith. She married John Elder and he preceded her in death in 1979.

She was a supervisor for Bell Telephone Company for 31 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney.

Survivors include nieces and nephews, Linda Stoll, Claremont Nancy McNamara, Decatur, James Uhl, Mattoon, and Robert Uhl and John Uhl, both of Olney.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a sister.
