Mildred Powell (Black)

Mrs. Mildred C. Black, 58, wife of John W. Black, and life-long fine citizen of German Township died Sunday March 1970 at the Richland Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She had lived in the Amity Church neighborhood all of her life.

She was born in German Township on November 9, 1911, daughter of the late Charles J. and Mattie Nicholson Powell. She was united in marriage to John W. Black on July 1, 1933 in Olney.

She was converted at an early age and became a member of the Amity U.B. Church. In recent years, she has been affiliated with the Immanuel United Methodist Church in Olney.

Besides her husband, John, she is survived by a sister Miss Mary Powell, R.N. of Olney and a brother Eugene Powell of Oak Park. She has been preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George and Chester.

Funeral services in the Immanuel United Methodist Church with Pastor John E. Kauffman officiating. Interment in Crest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
